Leon N. Brown Match papers, 1864-1975.

The collection includes materials on the histories of fire making, matches and their production, match companies and their founders, and creation and development of the Diamond Match Company in Oswego. The more notable items in the collection are Brown's correspondence and notes regarding research on American match companies from the industry's early origins to the 1970's.

Leon N. Brown worked for the Diamond Match Company in Oswego, New York and later transfered to the plant in Springfield, Massachusetts. He began working for the company in 1909 as a time keeper and was eventually promoted to chief accountant of the Oswego plant prior to being transfered to the Springfield plant.
